COLD EMERGENCIES                                                                                                                                        SOG 9.13

Basic

I. Initial Assessment

Administer highest concentration of warmed oxygen, as tolerated.
Assess neuro status, AVPU.
II. Focused History and Physical Exam
Assess mechanism of injury.
Remove only wet clothing and maintain the patient in a warm, draft free environment.
Cover with warm blankets if available.
III. Ongoing Assessment
Reassess ABC's.
Monitor vital signs.
Monitor neuro status of patient.
