Basic

I. Initial Assessment

Assess airway and initiate spinal precautions.
Administer highest concentration of oxygen as tolerated.
Assist with breathing as needed with BVM and supplemental oxygen.
Control any hemorrhage.
Assess AVPU.
II. Focused History and Physical Exam
Identify mechanism of injury.
Assess for cerebrospinal fluid from ears, nose, and mouth.
Assess neuro function of all extremities.
Maintain spinal precautions.
III. Ongoing Assessment
Continue to monitor neuro status and vital signs every 5 minutes.
