.01 The purpose of the chain of command is to insure that all responsible parties are kept informed.

.02 The chain of command begins with the immediate supervisor (company officer, Captain) and progresses upward to the Fire Chief. All Fire Department personnel shall use the chain of command when giving or asking for information or privileges. The reverse procedure shall be used by superiors to convey information to subordinates.

.03 Where members wish to discuss a request with authorities beyond immediate superiors, they should request permission for special conference with the designated officer through the established chain of command. In this situation the subordinate member is not required to disclose the nature of the requested conference and in no case shall his/her request for conference be denied.
